Steigen

We spent six days in August in beautiful Steigen hiking and relaxing. Steigen municipality is situated 200 km south of Narvik on the SE side of Vestfjorden. There are a lot of spectacular mountains you can hike in Steigen. The island, Engeløya, in the northern part of Steigen is our favorite part of Steigen. The mountains on Engeløya offer you easy hiking and give you a fantastic view in spite of their relative lower altitude. You`ll have the Vestfjorden and Lofotveggen (The Lofoten Wall) on the horizon all the time.

There are many beautiful beaches in Steigen. On Engeløya we loved those on the W and NW side of the island.

Engeløya, as most part of Steigen, is an eldorado for kayaking. We did not bring our kayaks this time.

The old Steigen church and Batterie Dietl are both located on Engeløya and are worth a visit.

On this trip to Steigen we stayed in our big camping tent and our Tesla.
