Fishermen’s Trail: Our Coastal Adventure in Portugal
The Fishermen’s Trail is an approximately 220 km (137 mile) hiking route along the southwest coast of Portugal, stretching between the towns of Lagos and Porto Covo. This coastal path offers a fantastic experience, with dramatic cliffs lining the entire route.
Hikers can choose to start either in the north from Porto Covo or in the south from Lagos. We opted to begin in Lagos and hike northbound. This way, we’d have less sun in our faces, and it would be easier to travel to Lisbon once our hike was complete.
We started our trek on May 14th and planned to take 12 days to complete the journey.
Unlike our previous trips, we haven’t brought any camping gear. For this adventure, we’ll be staying indoors, and we’ve booked accommodation for every night. Some daily stages are short, and the trail isn’t technically difficult, making this a more comfortable trip than we usually experience.
