Fishermen’s Trail Day 2
We spent the night at Club House CVL in Praia da Luz. We had a typical hotel room in a low-rise building, ours on the second floor with a nice balcony that we enjoyed after relaxing by the pool.
The breakfast at the hotel was surprisingly good, and we ate enough to keep us full well into the day.
Today’s stage to Salema was, like yesterday’s, just under 12 km. These are the two shortest sections of the entire Fishermen’s Trail. The cliff formations today weren’t as dramatic and impressive as yesterday, but still beautiful. We saw classic, elongated cliffs punctuated by coves with sandy beaches.
After a coffee break in Burgau, halfway through our hike, we arrived in Salema by 3 PM. In Salema, we had booked a lovely apartment with a sunny balcony and two bathrooms. The town is a classic small village, with its old section of narrow streets to the east and the newer buildings, where we stayed, to the west.
For those curious about the Fishermen’s Trail, you can check this link: https://rotavicentina.com/en/fishermens-trail/You can choose to hike north or south. We opted for northbound, as it meant less sun in our faces and was more convenient since we arrived in Faro, Portugal. After finishing the hike, we’re heading to Lisbon.
