Monte Cinto is, with 2706 masl, the highest mountain on Corsica and was on our bucket list. You can hike the mountain either from the north via GR20 from Haut Asco, or from the south from Lozzi. The first one has a distance of 12 km and 1318 meter ascent one way, while the latter has 16 km and 1618 meter ascent. Most hikers start from Haut Asco, but we chose to start from Lozzi.
The first 6 km up to Refuge de I´Erco is easy straightforward hiking, 1:15 h. From the Refuge, not manned, you can choose to proceed via Lac du Cinto or proceed directly to the summit. We chose the steep way directly to the summit and arrived at the summit 3:20 h later. There are some steep parts where you have to do some easy scrambling.
